Julio Larramendi

Julio (b. Santiago de Cuba, 1954) has a degree in chemistry and a doctoral degree in science.

He began his career as a nature photographer, but soon began photographing architecture and people in many different countries.

His photographs have illustrated over 40 books. In 2007, he founded Ediciones Polymita, which has published over 35 outstanding books such as The Orchids of Cuba; Terrestrial Mollusks of Cuba; Birds of Cuba; The First Colonial Settlements of Cuba; Matanzas, the Athens of Cuba; Servando Cabrera Moreno; Trinidad, a Gift from Heaven; and most recently, Havana, Images of a Colonial City.

He is the founder and director of Galeria Larramendi located in the prestigious hotel Conde de Villa Nueva in Old Havana.
