The Friendship Association was founded as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in November of 2000. Our name was shortened to The Friendship Association when our mandate expanded to include a wider territory of Cuba.
The Friendship Association is an all-volunteer organization that relies on donations, both direct and in-kind, and grants to fund our projects. Since 2000 we have accompanied over 80 delegations to Cuba and have formed and maintained warm working relationships with key individuals and organizations in many of the communities of Cuba.
To date we have shipped 23 forty-foot containers to eastern Cuba as well as hand-delivered numerous donations, including hard to find medicines and educational materials.
To establish, promote and foster a spirit of friendship between U.S. citizens and the citizens of Cuba through educational exchanges and participation in meaningful projects that benefit Cuban civil society, communities, and the environment.
The Friendship Association is a non-profit organization that is funded by broad-based public support and its membership. The Friendship Association sponsors delegations to Cuba and educational and cultural events in Cuba and in the United States.
Friendship Association projects have received support from the ARCA Foundation, the Florida Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, Idea Wild, The Christopher Reynolds Foundation, BirdsCaribbean, Optics for the Tropics, and Caribbean Heritage Concepts.
