Background:

The Saint Augustine – Baracoa Friendship Association was founded as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in November of 2000. Our name was shortened to The Friendship Association when our mandate expanded to include a wider territory of Cuba.

The Friendship Association is an all-volunteer organization that relies on donations, both direct and in-kind, and grants to fund our projects. Since 2000 we have accompanied about 4-5 delegations to Cuba each year and have formed and maintained warm working relationships with key individuals and organizations in many of the communities of Cuba.

To date we have shipped 23 forty-foot containers to eastern Cuba as well as hand-delivered numerous donations, including hard to find medicines and educational materials. More recently we have sent food!
